Students as Ai Teachers: Building Metacognitive Mastery by Using Cognitive Frameworks to Create AI Prompts

When students design AI prompts, they learn to think about their own thinking. This session introduces practical approaches for using prompt creation as a tool for metacognitive growth and critical thinking development. Participants will learn how this process encourages students to plan, monitor, and evaluate their reasoning and the reasoning of the AI generated content they receive by applying critical thinking standards such as clarity, accuracy, and precision. Junior Achievement’s AI Literacy resources will serve as a foundation for activities that turn students into teachers of their own learning.
