In the creativity and divergent thinking track you will explore several activities you can immediately implement in your classroom. Creativity and divergent thinking tasks are essential for all learners because they encourage flexible thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to see multiple possibilities instead of just one “right” answer. These skills help students adapt, innovate, and make meaningful connections across subjects. For gifted students, this is especially critical. Without opportunities to think divergently, they may become disengaged, perfectionistic, or overly focused on correctness rather than exploration. Creative tasks provide the depth, complexity, and intellectual challenge they need, while also nurturing curiosity, risk-taking, and original thought—key traits for both academic growth and real-world success.
