BOARD MEMBER AT LARGE

The last eleven years as a teacher and leader have truly flown by. My experience as an educator is diverse and spans grades K-12, as a former health and fitness teacher, high school Spanish teacher, 6th grade bilingual highly capable teacher, as well as advocate and consultant specializing in Gifted and Talented Education. I am blessed with so many varying experiences, in addition to my eventual home in highly capable education, because these experiences have allowed me to grow and to refine my mission as an educator. Through the sharpening of my skills and understanding in Whitworth University’s Gifted and Talented Program, I have gained a more comprehensive grasp of the state of highly capable education in Washington, and I am committed to sharing my passion to inspire growth. I would be honored to join the board of directors because I believe in the work that WAETAG does in spreading research based best practices to our teammates across the state. More specifically, I am driven to advocate for projects that better serve culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse highly capable students, improve equitable identification processes, raise the bar for quality curriculum and instruction, better align our programs and services to the research and the law, and to champion a more dynamic, challenging, and engaging educational experience for ALL students.
