If Classrooms Were Workshops: Valuing Students’ Process of Inquiry
Guest Speaker: Dr. Nancy Hertzog
Imagine what children would do in classrooms if they were designed like workshops! Lots and lots of ideas would be shared to build upon new ideas, time would be given to revisit and rework ideas, trial and error would be valued, and there would be no such thing as only one way to do things! Workshops are places not only where students have opportunities to use their creativity, but also spaces where students build their social skills and enhance their emotional regulation when they work together. In this presentation, participants will be asked to think about how they can turn mandated and structured curriculum into opportunities for students to explore, play with ideas, and pursue inquiry. This webinar will be active, collaborative, and fun just like we want our classrooms to be!
