The Unique Inner Lives of Gifted Children
Speaker: Dr. Linda Silverman, Ph.D.
Growing up gifted is more than learning new ideas more quickly or remembering things more easily. The intellectual, academic, social and emotional development of gifted children is out of sync. They often understand things before they are emotionally ready to deal with them. They may have a strong sense of ethics and justice, and be frustrated when the world doesn’t work as they think it should. And as a parent or teacher, it can be hard to set developmentally appropriate expectations for kids who can talk like they are much older than they really are. Dr. Silverman will explore the inner lives of gifted children with us so that we can better understand our gifted children and know how to support them.
