Loaded Questions: Using Depth and Complexity to Ignite Engagement and Debate

WAETAG Webinar Series

What makes a question great? How can we harness the power of a question to ignite productive debate? In this webinar we explore the use of Gould and Kaplan’s Depth and Complexity icons to shape intentional, strategic, or even “loaded” questions that are sure to ignite student engagement. As we analyze one in depth example lesson together, participants will interact by brainstorming, sharing ideas, and engaging in civil discourse! The example lesson will include an ethical and moral thinking adventure regarding the infamous interaction between the SS Californian and the Titanic, with additional layers of philosophy added to drive critical thinking.
