Committees
Committees are where the work happens and the most common way to volunteer. Our committees are made up of dedicated professionals volunteering their time to bring programs, resources, and projects to fruition with the purpose of empowering our community of education professionals. These volunteers are the lifeblood of the organization and we are incredibly grateful for their dedication.Annual Conference Committee
This committee is the visionary team behind our Annual Conference. They are responsible for deciding venue, themes, speaker line ups, and every other aspect of the conference, including on site support. If you’d like to get behind the scenes and role up your sleeves for conference work, we’d love to have your support.
Finance Committee
The role of the Finance Committee is primarily to provide financial oversight for the organization. Typical tasks include budget and financial planning, financial reporting, and the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies. The committee also sets long-range financial goals in line with the organizations strategic goals along with funding strategies to achieve them. This includes seeking out opportunities for gaining corporate sponsors, philanthropists, large donors, grants and endowments as ways of generating funds for the organization.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is responsisble for building relationships with our members, recruiting new members, and providing visionary guidance on how we can better support our members. They are the brain power behind the special projects listed below.
Clock Hour Committee

Our Clock Hour Committee reviews and approves educational content for all programs WAETAG provides clock hours for to ensure they meets the standards set forth by OSPI. In addition to approving the content, committee members are responsible for ensuring WAETAG remains in compliance with all documentation including tracking program attendance, evaluations, and clock hour form distribution. The committee is also responsible for the annual re-certification process.Legislative Committee
Our Legislative Committee is charged with the critical work on advocating for our gifted students by working with our partner organizations in writing legislation and working to get it passed to ensure the needs of our gifted and talented students are mandated.
Partnership Committee
The Partnership Committee works on developing strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in the education community. This includes universities, other education associations, publishers, entities who offer professional development, and much more.
