Understanding and Addressing Student Motivation Issues

Amy Phillips Phillips October 22, 2021

Speaker: Dr. Del Siegle

Lack of motivation is among the most frustrating issues facing parents and educators. Low motivation limits student opportunities and fulfillment. We will share research over the past 20 years that explored why some talented students are willing to tackle new challenges, while others seem insecure or uninterested. During this presentation, we will discuss the different roles teachers play in developing students’ talents, the importance of having a growth mindset, and the importance of recognizing student strengths and interests and the implications that doing so has on talent development.
